MAIN OBJECTIVE:

To provide the following:

• Primary Medical Care to employees and eligible dependents.

• Aviation Medicine Care for flying personnel.

• Health Care education as required.

• Aviation Medicine Training as required.

• Medical input to Airline Management and Operations as required.

• Occupational Health & Safety advice to Management and Employee when required.

MAIN DUTIES:

1. Provide Primary Medical Care and Consultancy to employees and eligible dependents.

2. Provide preventive and curative medical services. Treat acute and chronic medical problems of staff and dependents.

3. Provide preventive measures such as antenatal care, post-natal, child screening and vaccination.

4. Perform minor surgical procedure.

5. Perform renewal and initial medical examination for cabin attendant and other third party staff.

6. Perform renewal and initial Medical Examination for GF Pilots and other third party staff provided that he/she has the CAA-BAH AME License.

7. Perform pre-employment and re-contract medical examination.

8. Liaise with Senior Manager Medical Services (SMMS) to organize, plan, and control work performance to ensure progress toward mission and goals.

9. Create and implement both long and short range planning processes in line with SMMS strategic plan.

10. Integrate with rules and regulation of the Gulf Air Medical Services strategic plan, goals and objectives and utilize it in decision-making processes as guiding documents.

11. Serve as the liaison official with SMMS and other sections.

12. Promote an organizational culture that is positive, motivated on target and place high priority on error prevention rather than error correction.

13. Educate employee on occupational hazards and methods of prevention.

14. Attend Doctors meeting. Attend continuous medical education lectures provided by the clinic and Ministry of Health.

15. Participate in researches and programs carried out by Gulf Air Medical Services.

16. Provide appropriate guidance on call, after duty hours. Answer staff/patient inquiries by phone, and reply to messages received from patients and provide them with appropriate advice.

17. Be on standby to support aviation functions and services related to Operations Department and CAA-BAH when required either by phone or physical presence.

18. Be on standby when drug and alcohol testing is performed and manage its outcome accordingly, if positive case occurred doctors have to attend physically to implement the policy.

19. Refer patients to suitable specialist if required.

20. Attend emergency cases when asked by the nursing staff. Also attend an emergency cases referred to various hospitals, if required.

21. Liaise with medical specialist regarding patient management.

22. Check, advice, sign the reports provided by the patients.

23. Check, advice on investigation requested e.g. laboratory results, x-ray, and give appropriate comments.

24. Keep up to date with advances in health care.

25. Meet medical representatives.

26. Contribute to medical webpage on MyGulfAir website.

27. Carry out any other duties assigned by SMMS.

Education & Experience:

Primary Medical Qualifications equivalent to MB, ChB and MD. Post Graduate Qualifications as appropriate equivalent to MRCGP, MFOM, DavMed, Diploma in Family and Community Medicine.

Minimum five years full time experience in family practice or Occupational Medicine/Aviation Medicine after obtaining post-graduate qualifications.
